It has been a crazily busy week. There were many events but I just can't seem to find time to blog. It felt as if my life only consisted of design and quotations (well, at least for the past 2 weeks). But you know what, for the first time in an office environment, I actually really enjoyed work. Hours were quite flexible and colleagues were wonderful... As long as you finish you work, nothing matters (well, almost)!

I spent X'mas Eve at work till 3+pm (well, an hour or two spent pigging out on food though). But I stopped myself to meet up with my cousin Shirley to go watch her friend Gigi perform some Brazilian percussion thinghy. It was awesome! After which, we headed to Boat Quay for Japanese food and randomly walked around till we reached a club called CUBA @ Clark Quay.

That was how my X'mas countdown was spent; with Shirley and a new friend Gigi, dancing away to Cuban music. I went home feeling sick and tired. I think my body is no longer able to take late nights + not enough rest the past week. My weekends were mostly spent sleeping (and sleeping and sleeping) and packing my room.

It's New Year's Eve as I'm writing this in my office. I've worked hard for the past 2 weeks; jobs are slowly clearing up and my 红包 design (nightmare) is finally out. 6 more days to my Bangkok trip, I'm really looking forward to it!

Had "team lunch" with my colleagues at Basilico, an Italian-style buffet @Regent Hotel. The spread was great, I like everything I had there! (Pardon the quality of the photos, it was taken by my camera phone)

My very first squid-ink pasta; cooked in what else but Aglio Olio style. Your choice of pasta and base will be cooked right on the spot by the chef present. I was skeptical about eating anything black but it was really yummy! Hard to describe the exact taste; but if I had to, it was subtle and kind of sweet (maybe the strong smell of garlic masked the real squid-ink taste).

Look at the delectable cheese spread! I had mozzarella + slices of tomatoes, sprinkled with olive oil by a charming Italian chef. Please sprinkle vinegar too! (I didn't and it was almost tasteless)

There was even gelato! I had pink guava gelato, an abundance of M&Ms topped with a single marshmallow. The gelato is a tad too watery for my liking though, otherwise it would have been perfect.

And I've decided that I want to get Panasonic LX3 camera; it seems to be the best within my budget and needs (has to be compact) and friends using said it seems to be a good point-and-shoot camera. Sounds perfect for me! It shall be my X'mas present to myself.

Fleamarket buys (CHEAP THRILLS!)

My weekend was spent at the flea market (which I also own a booth) at Changi Airport T3 and I managed to bag quite a number of good steals.

Cute Japanese writing paper, S$1 + Batman comic, S$2
It was very well-maintained and packaged very well, with cardboard backing and plastic. I intend to frame the comic because I really like the cover art; i looks some sort like one of those vintage posters.

4 branded fabric dust bags, S$5
They were brand new and supposedly authentic, and were even made with good quality fabric. I needed them to section my clothes when I travel; they look good and were even cheaper than the ones from Daiso.

Victoria Secret pouch, S$2
It was brand new with tag and I intend it to use to store my undies when I travel. Its so cute!

Vintage pouches, free
They were GIVEN to me by a very nice man who had a booth selling nice vintage things from cameras, to lamps to watches. How generous!

Gold metal star hairpins, $$0.50 each

Ralph Lauren hand-carry travel bag, S$16
And finally, my best buy for the day! It's one of those free bags that comes with your purchases. Anyway, I thought it looks good and is definitely weighs lighter than those trolley bags (so I can shop more).

As you can see, most items were bought in anticipation for my coming Bangkok trip. It will only be a short 5 days now that I have what you call a full-time job. I DO NOT have check-in luggage but I will have 10kg of hand-carry luggage, which will hopefully be enough.

A few of her favourite things

Met up with the talented Dawn Tan of handmadelove yesterday to pick up a zine I bought from her. She'll be in Singapore for a month or two, and has a few zines left. So if you would like to purchase a zine from her, you may do so and save on mailing charges! They are going for S$12.50 each, and well-worth the money for such wonderful illustrations!

Kate Forrester's creation for the John's Lewis Christmas Campaign really caught my eye here.

Finally! I get to design a red packet! 红包; and not one but TWO different designs! People will be distributing my artwork during Chinese New Year. How exciting! Now I can check off "Design a 红包" from my list of things to do before I die. Lovely.

Here's one very cute red (or rather, gold) packet design by Play Station:

I love Christmas + Chinese New Year!
