I Like Roald Dahl

The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl was a really quick read. I think I must have finished it in about 10 minutes. It was cute though, and I really adore Quentin Blake's illustrations.

I'm now on The Witches, another Roald Dahl book I haven't read before. One chapter into the book and I find the story rather familiar. I vaguely remember; when I was about 8 or so, I watched a movie about witches having purple eyes and them turning into ugly, wrinkly rats at the end... So I did a check online and indeed, it's an adaptation of Roald Dahl's The Witches! You can read about it here.

Keeping my favourites for the last - Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and The BFG!

I Like Cleanliness

I had a really productive weekend.

Spent hours cleaning up my room and reorganizing everything. It's really quite tidy, maybe except for the clothes part. I'm happy, Mum's happy.

I cleaned my teeth too.

Everything's clean. Yay!

I Like Colourful Things

Weeks ago, a colleague brought a box full of Indian bangles she did not need anymore, after spring cleaning her house (I really need that). I was obviously very excited at the sight of colourful things. What you see in the picture above is only a quarter of what she brought in. Not alot of the bangles were taken as it was all jumbled up and mismatched; so I spent quite some time mixing and matching different delicious-looking combination for myself and other colleagues. In the end, every single bangle found themselves an owner. I tell you, it's all about packaging.

My own collection of bangles. I'm ashamed to say this, but I hardly wear them. And yes, a bit of the OCD as you can tell.

I did wear this combination out though, and it was quite noisy. I removed it while I'm at work because, imagine the noisy-enough-on-its-own bangles hitting the tables when I move my mouse.

I've also added 3MM hooks on the door of my wardrobe for hanging my chunky necklaces, in an effort to try to wear them more. Kind of noisy when I open the wardrobe door, but I like it there anyway. When i get dressed, the necklaces are all there at one glance and I can conveniently grab and go.

Kim Gary + Cereal

I was famished by the time Xiuwei called me for dinner (she had just gotten off from work).

Kim Gary Hong Kong Cafe
Tampines One, B1 (right beside entrance) // Tampines MRT
We ordered the same thing, some spicy pork cutlet noodle soup thingy (can't remember the name) which looks really spicy but shiok in the menu's picture. It was a HUMONGOUS bowl. Literally littered with 50% bean sprouts, 3 super large pieces of pork cutlet and was really not half as spicy as it looks. The soup wasn't tasty and I thought it was rather diluted. The picture in the menu probably raised our exceptions a little bit too much.

After dinner, it was off to Xiuwei's house to see her overly-excited sausage dog Cereal, who never fails to pee whenever I touch him (this time was no exception; he even peed twice). Well, I guess he's still kind of a baby (about a year old) and probably not used to visitors. It was funny seeing him scrambling around madly with his super short legs with his tongue hanging out by the side, but he's really cute and quite a darling (except for the peeing part).

26,000 tickets?

I was at Yvonne's to pass her her belated birthday present. We hung out for quite a while before meeting my cousin Xiuwei, who lives only one block away. Von was just telling me (the last time at my place on my birthday) that she too keeps boxes of mementos (Mentos!) from our high school days.

Reading the letters I had written more than 10 years ago was a really funny feeling. I had a million different handwriting (actually, still do) and am superbly random (still am). One sentence I would be talking about how I was feeling about this guy and all and the very next sentence I would go "I'm supposed to go blading with you!" then following that would be "Why are all the teachers visiting our class? Our class so good meh?" Some of my letters came in a booklet form, with a preface and content segments, complete with a (ugly) bookmark titled "the bookmark". I even decorated pages with 1 cent and 5 cent coins. Seriously.

Till this day, I still send out handwritten letters and absoloutely appreciate receiving them!

I Like Hairlooms

Your fabulously hand crafted, one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery will be created by using precious metals in combination with the woven hair of your horse.

Using a cutting of your horses' tail-hair, Silversmith Kimberley Williams will weave the strands into a beautiful fabric like textile, then encase them into precious metal (your choice of sterling silver or gold), creating a personal and sentimental twist.
The above, taken from Hairlooms got me thinking about how amazing art and creation is. The sky's the limit. Well, this is kind of cool but in creepy kind of way too. While interesting and amazing, it's definitely not for me.

Count

That's it, I have:
60 dresses
9 sweaters/vest/jackets
6 long-sleeved tops
28 tops (that needs hangers)
21 shorts/skirts/jeans/pants (that needs hangers)
60 tank tops/T-shirts
And some other clothes for sports + casual clothes for home.

GOSH! Don't get me started my my bags, shoes and accessories (!!!).

PS: I need about 110 - 120 hangers. Question is, will the new hangers be able to fit into my wardrobe?

TGIF

It's Good Friday, and I'll be heading down to Tampines IKEA for lunch with Mummy and to pick up some stuff for my room. This weekend, I have to pack my room. No more excuses!
I might need 2 sets of those FLYT Magazine File (set of 5), 12 sets (?) of BUMERANG Curved Clothes Hanger (set of 8) and 2 sets of shelf brackets.

Reminder to self
  • Measure width and thickness of shelves (I had bought previously)
  • Count total amount of hangers I actually need
